Only through teamwork can we push forward the boundaries of science to make a difference for patients
IRIS provides a translational framework from preclinical discovery to transformative innovative clinical care. However, this requires many different people all working together as a cohesive team towards a common goal – to provide innovative and high-quality health care, especially to children, using minimally invasive techniques. This is only made possible through the dedication of all of our team members and the creation of integrated inclusive work environments where we value and respect diversity and inclusion.

Dr Thakor leads IRIS at the Innovation Park at Stanford where his team pioneers and develops innovative visions and approaches focused on precision delivery and therapy. He also works with other faculty (both within Stanford and at other institutions) as well as with industry partners for collaborations with complimentary domain expertise to help push forwards the boundaries of Science in a team approach. Finally, Dr Thakor works at Stanford Heath Care to help treat patients, and especially children at LPCH, where he looks to develop new workflows for precision delivery and diagnosis.
Translational IRIS Team Our preclinical team spans experts in molecular biology, stem cell biology, extracellular vesicles, ultrasound, biomaterials, and molecular imaging. Dr Thakor helps to lead this team which has been specifically bought together to integrate these disciplines to drive scientific advances and forward-thinking ideas that underpin the vision of IRIS.
Collaborators Team science leverages the expertise and experience of individuals with different domain expertise to come together to find innovative solutions for scientific problems. IRIS focuses on addressing issues related to ensuring the correct therapy reaches the correct location in the human body for maximal therapeutic efficiency. Through our academic and industry collaborations, we are developing new therapies and products which will can commercialize or even clinically translate at our institution, to ensure we can treat all patient populations across ethnicities, ages, and gender identities.
Clinical LPCH Team At LPCH, Dr Thakor works with an amazing team to deliver the most advanced and progressive interventional care to children through all their stages of life. We provide 24/7 care, all year round, for children from the time they are born, when they can be small as 500g, all the way through to when they become adults. Our goal is to provide the highest quality care to children using minimally invasive techniques that help to support the physical and mental wellbeing of a child and family throughout their journey through our healthcare system.
