MINIMALLY INVASIVE APPROACHES FOR 21ST CENTURY CARE

Dr Thakor and the Interventional Radiology team at LPCH are pushing forward the boundaries of how to treat children using minimally invasive high-end techniques.  Examples include percutaneous reconstruction of the biliary system, percutaneous lymphatic intervention and the local delivery of medications through blood vessels into organs such as the liver, kidney and bowel as well as tumors.  In addition, we are able to cause the local destruction of tumors using percutaneous thermal or endovascular tumor blocking techniques, or more recently using completely non-invasive ways via soundwaves (i.e. HIFU).
